More Snow

16 Dec

I was really hoping to post these pictures last week, to show you what the year’s first snow was like when we woke up the next morning.

But have you had this cold/flu thing that’s going around, at least here in New York City?

I was so sick. I lost my voice for a week and spent two solid days at home.  I swear,  I haven’t been that sick in years.

I’m thinking that possibly I had a case of what we’re calling “the oinks” around the office, you know, like swine flu?  Journalists are so funny … or something.

Regardless, I just had to share with you these pictures of our winter wonderland, so that if you’re in a place where the holidays are snow-free you can dream of a roaring fire and soft, soft marshmallow fluff snow.

The birds really liked it.  They were in full fluff.  We got to see everyone.

Even our most skittish neighbors like Isaac’s favorite, Mr. Cardinal.

And then I also just had to share what it was that I pulled out from under a snow-covered little hoop-house I built in the garden.

Lettuces! A whole box of heirloom baby lettuces.  Because there really is no better way to celebrate the season’s first snow than with a beautiful little salad.

Wonderful photo–the cardinal’s red in the snow is always a welcome sight.
